Besides Lyoto Machida, who in the UFC Light Heavyweight division has the best shot at beating Anderson Silva?

Anderson Silva is the pound-for-pound BEST mixed martial arts fighter in the world. New reports and rumors are circulating saying that he will vacate his Middleweight title and finish his career fighting in the Light Heavyweight division. Since he’s already said it would take $10M+ for him to fight teammate and training partner Lyoto Machida (the current LHW champion), what LHW fighter seems to stand the best chance at actually defeating Silva?

I don’t think Machida’s styl woul work for him against Silva.

I think stronger wrestlers that like to GnP or submit: like Rampage, Demian Maia, and Tito would have a much better game to end Anderson Silva’s winning streak.

It would be a shame if Lyoto lost his 15-0. But that said, I don’t honestly believe there is anyone who can beat silva.

I agree with desert storm. Bitor Belfort could easily take Anderson Silva to the ground with his lightning strikes and thus avoid the deadly knee strikes of Silva and could defeat him in the ground.

I think Rampage has a shot considering he wont go down by jabs. If he got one of his huge takedowns or clinched silva I could see Jackson get a KO on Silva.

Tito Ortiz could beat Silva if he comes back to his old ways. Ortiz could demolish Silva on the ground in many ways.

honestly i don’t think lyoto could beat silva but i think rashad evans is the one to beat the streak.

man, Lyoto is not even near what Silva is. Lyoto is a decent fighter, i don’t care what anybody says. Tito will come back and beat him down because tito is a top notch fighter who just happened to lose because he didn’t think anybody in the ufc resorted to boring tricks like punch and run and dropping at the last few seconds of each round. Lyoto will have a chance against Silva only because he will allow it. If Silva chooses to disrespect him as he did with forrest (which he did!) then Lyoto will die because Silva is too good a fighter.

    anyways… after that tirade…

I think the guys that have a chance are Rampage, maybe Rua, I mean if Rua comes back full form then I’d say he has a chance, Maybe Evans… UFC needs better talent in that division now that I think about it because it just got smaller.

by the way I know morons who’s on Lyoto’s jock will rate me low but when Lyoto loses they won’t rate me so low. so enjoy and get mad that someone think’s differently than you!

    1. Mauricio “shogun” Rua.. Former training partners that now seem interested in fighting each other. Rua is a very talented Mui Thai and Jiu Jitsu guy so it would be a great fight.

    2. Luiz Cane… The guy is a beast! I dont know if he could beat Silva but he would make it a war for sure. He can take it and give too.

    3. Quinton Jackson.. He has the wrestling to take down Silva and give him lots of problems

    4. Ortiz.. He has the wrestling to give Silva problems

    5. LYoto Machida I think could beat Silva too. They both have a similar style except Silva may be a bit more slick in the stand up, but Lyoto is much better in the wrestling so it evens out I think.

I think Machida would still beat Silva, he would force Silva to fight his game and Machida has more power. Silva hits people until they quit or the ref stops the fight, but Machida can just put people out cold. I said before that someone like Okami could give Silva trouble because of his sheer strength or Akiyama because of his judo, but Silva would still probably whoop them. They should think about bringing in Melvin Manhoef, that would be the best fight. Melvin is 185lbs., is on the same striking level as Silva and punches harder, but Silva’s jui jitsu is much better.

NOBODY is a better fighter than A. Silva. If he ever does get beat, it’ll b because either he gets caught or if Silva beats himself. Lyoto is great but Silva is the best on the planet. Shogun Rua???? are you kidding me??? Shogun??? have u seen him agains Mark coleman and chuck liddell?? he bearly beat a 44 yr old man and looked terrible doing it. Then they fed him chuck liddell who can get knocked out by a gust of air right now. I don’t think shogun deserved his title shot agains Lyoto. Lyoto will pick him apart

I think Rashad Evan’s has a chance because of his remarkable foot work and hand speed.

With that said the only 2 people that will impose a serious threat to Anderson are GSP and Lyoto Machida.
