Machida a legitimate 205er, and Penn rather soft, but extremely dangerous at 170 I can’t imagine Penn fighting at 185 nor Machida at 185 or lower..??

So was this fight a huge weight mismatch? I don’t think Pride sanctioned their fight, but I know in Pride often light heavy weights would fight legitimate heavy weights.

I knew Penn beat Matt Hughes for the welterweight belt some years back, but thought he quickly lost it back to him, well before gaining the Lw championship in a gory fashion.

The only fighter I can think of that held simultaneous title is "HENDO"(pride)

Possibly Couture, can’t remember, I know he was Lhw champ, and multiple time HW champ, at the same time, I’m not sure.?
