That dude is amazing. I don’t think anyone can beat him for a long time.

Start off with leg kicks, if you neutralize his knees his clinch becomes non effective. His clinch is dangerous. So keep him at bay with leg kicks and hard bombs. Try to take him down, Lutter almost submitted him so submission may be the key to beating Silva.

Very good question. I would not want to exchange punches and kicks with Anderson, he’s very accurate, and has power. I wouldn’t want to get inside punching and kicking range with him, his Muay Thai is world class. I know he’s a black belt at BJJ, but I’d take my chances on the ground. I saw a clip on you tube months ago where he was up against a japanese fighter in Pride. Here is the link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=267i7rKeECA …I don’t know if I could pull it off, but that’s what I would attempt.

First of all my limbs are too short. Going toe to toe against his Muay Thai will be tough. Unless I’m like a Buakaw Por Pramuk type I don’t think it’ll be a walk in the park. My only other option is to defeat him on the ground. Either that or get on my knees and plead for my life

Silva can only be beaten 2 ways.
1. Land one lucky punch and knock him out.
2. Control him with superior wresteling and hope he doesn’t catch you in a submission while attempting to lay on top of him and control positions while doing minimal damage.

Take him down, control position damage as much as I can without giving up position or putting myself in a submission.
Grind out a decision, or hope that I can finish him or hurt him enough with damage from ground and pound…

He’s too good on the feet. You have to show him that you’re willing to trade so that he respects your hands, but you always have to look for the takedown. He could be beaten if you took him down like Henderson did in the first round…for 5 rounds. It’s tough but probably the only way.

I’d try to catch him while he’s sleeping the night before the fight.
If I had to wait until I was in the ring, I’m not sure what I would do. I think the only thing you can do is to just try and work over a particular spot on him (I’d go for the outside thigh on one of his legs), and just keep hitting that until you finally took enough of the wind out of his sails to try and move in and KO him.
In all honesty, if he brings his “A” game to a fight, I don’t think there’s anyone in the MMA world right now that could beat him.

Stay away from the clinch. Counter strike as he measures up my striking. Keep my kicks on the inside so it’s more difficult to catch and move laterally to stay away from his combinations. If possible, getting in for a takedown would be ideal but only if i could get side mount and avoid his elbows. Stay away from the cage. Do front kicks to keep distance and only come in when he’s over shot. I think that would be a good strategy. Also, try to catch up with some kicks and convert into leg locks, etc.

I don’t have the physical tools to fight a guy like that, but I think the way to beat him is to overpower him with strength and ground and pound, but this is hard to do because of the 5 minute rounds in the ufc, you would have a better chance in a fight with no rounds, it would be difficult to stand up with him but a k1 level muay thai fighter would beat him standing like Baukaw would whoop him in a muay thai match.

Let him get me in a clinch for a moment, before he strikes anything to devastating do a “pull down” really quick, spin around his back, put my legs in, and go for the rear naked choke =]
I’m really good at that little combo and have beat much better competition with it, just because its a good gameplan. So who knows maybe i’d get lucky

His grappling game is strictly defensive; he seems to rely primarily on strikes, and use grappling more for defense and escape, than to actually end a fight. Furthermore when he throws hooks he tends to let his guard down on the opposite side; if a dude who can actually fight sees what I saw, that can be dangerous. Excellent overall package though; very impressive fighter. Little more polish and he has the potential to be the MMA Joe Louis; a little too arrogant for his own good though, if he doesn’t watch himself he could end up becoming the MMA Zab Judah instead.
Oh, my game plan? Sorry, haven’t answered your question yet; I wouldn’t really have a plan. I got thrown in there, I’d just take the fight as it went and try my best not to get killed. Before actually fighting him though, we are looking at 2 hours of Charles Atlas every day, followed by 4 hours of Kihon, 4 hours of Kata, and the remaining time used for meditation and banging my fists on a Makiwara.
After about 4 months of such abuse THEN I’d fight him.
I would fake an injury.
Get in close and throw some bombs, his boxing isn’t that good thats why he kept running away from Cote who isn’t great but hes got a good punch!
Why all the thumbs down, i know a boxer who sparred with him and said his skills are pretty amatuer, don’t believe the hype eg (kimbo slice).
Counter his roundhouse kick with a flying scissor-lock takedown, followed quickly by a heel-hook submission.
[EDIT] It was a freaking joke:

As if I knew how to do that anyway.
I would try to sneak in a baseball bat.
